1921 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Florence J. (Remian) Komorek, 93, of 95 East Ave., died peacefully on Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, surrounded by her family. She was born in Southbridge, Mass. on Aug. 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Boduch) Remian. She attended Southbridge schools, and graduated from Mary Wells High School. She came to North Adams in 1957. Mrs. Komorek was primarily a homemaker for most of her life. She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Her husband, Dr. John J. Komorek, a longtime educator at the former North Adams State College, whom she married on August 3, 1947, died on November 28, 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth J. Jorczak and her husband, David, of Florence, Mass., her son, Thomas J. Komorek, of North Adams; one brother, Eugene J. Remian, of Auburn, Mass., two grandchildren, Kevin D. Jorczak and his wife, Liz, of Walpole, Mass., and Janelle E. Norris and her husband, David, of Lunenburg, Mass., two great-grandchildren, Isaac R. Jorczak and Ainsley F. Norris; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Sophie Krupinski, and by four brothers, Walter Remian, Henry Remian, Joseph Remian and Andrew Remian. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor of the Parish of St. John Paul II. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday Aug. 22, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
