Francis Charles Laston Ill 1951-2012 BECKET Francis Charles Laston, lll., 60, of 634 Wade Inn Road, Becket, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Becket. Born in Pittsfield on November 1, 1951, a son of Francis C. Laston and Marie Anne Coakley Laston, he attended schools in Dalton, was a high school graduate, and had attended college. He served in the United States Army during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. Mr. Laston had been retired for 10 years from the Water Department in the Town of Lee and had previously been employed by the Town of Stockbridge in the Waste Water Treatment plant. He had also previously worked 15 years in the Power Transformer Department at General Electric Company. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, playing chess, playing golf, ATV riding, and reading. He was also a Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots fan. Mr. Laston leaves his wife, the former Linda Gero, whom he married August 25, 1985. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Gina Lucido of Holyoke, Tynette Frances Laston of Pittsfield and Jenny Marie Laston of Pittsfield; three sons, Alexander J. Hanna of Becket, Daniel V. Hanna of Oak Grove, Kentucky, and Francis C. Laston, IV., of Becket; a brother, David Laston, of Clayton, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Tierra Joane Allessio, Angeletta Haddock, Caydance Hanna, and Damien Francis Santos. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Francis Charles Laston., will be held Monday, January 9, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m, at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Hinsdale. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Laston may be made to the Salvation Army in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
