Francis G DeBlois 1915-2011 ADAMS Francis G DeBlois, 96 of 7 Hayer St., died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Williamstown Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Adams on September 9, 1915, son of the late Joseph E. And Hattie Lessard DeBlois he attended the former Notre Dame School in Adams, the former Adams High School and then the Mallory School of Ignition. Mr. DeBlois was first employed with the former Del Millette Electric and Battery Service in Adams, after which he became an automobile salesman. He was president of the Central Auto Co. on Commercial street in Adams for many years. He was a service manager for the former Birchard Buick in Pittsfield and then was employed for the former Harry Smith Ford Co., the former Scarafoni Ford Co., and then for K & M Motors, all in North Adams. He was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams. Mr. DeBlois served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and in the Company M. National Guard from 1933 to 1937. He was a member of the former Cartier Club in Adams, was a member of the Adams Alert Hose Co. for thirteen years was an honorary member. He later became an Engineer for the Adams Fire Department for twelve years. Mr. DeBlois was a member of the Massachusetts Fire Chief Association, member and past officer of the Berkshire County Forest Wardens Association and a member the Adams Forest Wardens. He was also a member of the Cheshire Stompers and while he and his wife wintered in Phoenix, Ariz., for several years he was a member of the Cactus Jumpers. His interests were reading, travel, gardening, dancing, fishing, history and restoring and repairing cars. His wife the former Helen Czaja, whom he married on May 4, 1938, died July 27, 2007. He is survived by two sons, Francis E. DeBlois and his life partner Sara Keniston of Rochester, N.H., Gregory A. DeBlois and his wife Carol of Adams. Four grandchildren, Christopher A. DeBlois of Roswell, Ga., Alexander A. DeBlois and his wife Tracy of Bainbridge Island, Washington, William DeBlois and his wife Tracy of Lunenburg, Ma. and Daniel DeBlois and his wife Nicole of Dalton. Seven great grandchildren, Christopher Wallace, Matthew Porter, Patrick Cooper, Margaret Elizabeth, David Francis, Emily Louise, and Elizabeth Marie. He also leaves nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Gilbert DeBlois, one sister, Beatrice DeBlois, and one daughter in law, Betty Lanter DeBlois. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral For Francis G. DeBlois will take place Monday, December 5, 2011 at 9 a.m. from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Pope John Paul the Great in Adams. Celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to the Adams Alert Hose Co. or the Adams Forest Wardens in care of the funeral home.
