1921 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Francis J. Garrity, 92, formerly of Lakeway Drive, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Melbourne Place where he had resided since 2009. Born in Pittsfield on December 18, 1921, the son of the late James F. and Ruth E. Vincent Garrity, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended Massachusetts State College (now the University of Massachusetts). A World War II veteran, Mr. Garrity served with the United States Navy where he was a Gunner's Mate First Class stationed in the southeast Pacific. Mr. Garrity was employed by General Electric Company where he was a Supervisor of Production Control in its Ordnance Systems Division. He retired on January 1, 1984 with 41 years service. He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs and the G.E. Foremen's Club. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448. He was also a member of the Berkshire Forest Wardens Association. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was important to Mr. Garrity, so much so he enjoyed making lifetime photo journals for his family. He also enjoyed reading and working outdoors. Mrs. Garrity's wife, the former Barbara Beecher, whom he married at St. Mark's Church in 1942, died December 26, 1987. Mr. Garrity is survived by a son, Robert J. Garrity and his wife, Carol, of Pittsfield; two daughters, Patricia A. Lusignan and her husband, Paul, of Lee, and Carolyn R. Carlson of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Kristina Farina, Michael Jacobson, Janice Jacobson, Jean Jacobson, Robert F. Garrity, and Cheryl Garrity-Mulholland; and five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Dawson, Catherine, Samuel, and Molly. FUNERAL NOTICE: At his request, funeral services for Francis J.
