Francis "Frank" Gomeau 1926 - 2012 WILLIAMSTOWN Francis Charles "Frank" Gomeau, 85, of 75 Champagne Ave. Williamstown, died Friday Feb. 17, 2012, at Sweetbrook Health Care Center. He was born in North Adams on Sept. 30, 1926, son of George and Eulalie (Durocher) Gomeau. He graduated from Drury High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Corps, and served in the Army in the Korean Conflict. He was employed in the construction industry in the area for several years. He was last employed as a fireman for the North Adams Fire Department, retiring in 1972. He was a life member of both the 6th United States Marine Division and the North Adams V.F.W. His wife, Jean (Whitney) Gomeau, whom he married Nov. 30, 1949, at Ft. Bragg, NC, died Aug. 19, 2010. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Gomeau Christian of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one son, Robert Gomeau and his wife, Deborah, of Pownal, Vt.; two grandchildren, Dale Gomeau and Elisha Santarcangelo; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Paige, and Aiden; two brothers, Bernard Gomeau of North Adams and David Gomeau of Augusta, Maine. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Gomeau, who died in 1957 at the age of five; a grandson, Robert Gomeau, and four brothers, Harold, Edward. George and Robert Gomeau. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services with military honors will take place Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the Southview Cemetery, North Adams, MA.
