Francis T. Kolis
1934 - 2015 ADAMS Mr. Francis Theodore Kolis, 80, of 4 Anthony St., died peacefully early Friday morning, Feb. 20, at his home. He was born in Adams on April 26, 1934, a son of the late Matthew and Catherine (Strzepek) Kolis. He attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School, and later graduated from the North Adams Adult Education Program. Mr. Kolis first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for several years. He then attended Pittsfield Trade School and earned a certificate as a machinist. He then went to work at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for many years, until retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks, Forest Park Country Club, the Mountain Club, and the Adams Sno Drifters. He enjoyed flying, golfing, gardening, enjoying breakfast with his friends at the Corner Lunch in Adams, and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed playing with his grand dog, Abby. He is survived by his loving companion of 16 years, Arlene Bard; one son, Daniel Kolis and his companion, Jody Cilli, of Adams; four daughters, Karen Kolis and her wife, Linda, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Julia Morey and her husband, Mike, of Cheshire, and Laurie Bard and Michelle Bard, both of Adams; 11 grandchildren, Justin and Derek Pinson-neault; Megan and Micayla Kolis; Natiya Cilli; Mitchell, Danielle and Chelsea Beauchemin; Cody and Chase LaBrie; and Misha Morey; one great-grandson, Noah Pinsonneault; one brother, Edmund Kolis of Penn.; four sisters, Lillian Blazejewski and Jane Gilman, both of Adams, and Blanche Hoellerich and Ilene LaFrance, both of Cheshire; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, William, Theodore, Donald and Fred Kolis; and by three sisters, Isabelle Lanski, Adele Carignan and Mildred Zatorski; and by a granddaughter, Marissa Morey. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will be held at a later date.
