Francis E. McGraw


1918-2012 Francis E. "Duff" McGraw 94, of Meadow St, Housatonic, died Friday November 29, 2012 at Fairview Commons.

He was born in Housatonic on November 15, 1918 son of the late Edward and Anna Adams McGraw. He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Searles High School, graduating in 1937.

He proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S Army, he was in the 22nd 4th Division 3rd Army having served in France, Luxemburg, Germany and Austria, and he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked for New Haven Railroad as an agent operator, serving Stockbridge, West Stockbridge, Pittsfield and Great Barrington for over 40 years. He was a communicant of Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Parrish at Corpus Christi Church, he was a member of the American Legion, Life member of the James A. Modolo Post# 8348 and was a life member and past president of Wyantenuck Country Club.

Francis was predeceased by his wife Marjorie E. Roberts McGraw whom he married on July 19, 1946 in Saint Peters Church and who died October 28, 2008.

He is survived by one brother Arthur and his wife Margaret McGraw of Housatonic.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Francis E. McGraw, who died November 29, will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Parrish with the Reverend William P. Murphy, pastor officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday December 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St Great Barrington. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Francis' memory may be made to Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Parrish in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
