Francis N. Palardy

1927 - 2014 LEE Francis N. Palardy, 86, of Chapel Street, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, on July 10, 1927, he was the son of Joseph and Alexina Larche Palardy. Francis was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. In September, 1945, he joined the Army and served during World War II, until his honorable discharged in April, 1946. After the service, Francis worked at Rice's Silk Mill and later, at GE in Pittsfield, retiring after 45 years. He married the former Mary Kilmer on July 31, 1948, and together they made their home in Lee since 1956. Francis enjoyed bowling, horse shoes, and playing with neighborhood kids. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Francis leaves three sons, David N. Palardy and his wife, Vickie, of Richmond, Daniel E. Palardy, Joseph B. Palardy and his wife, Shirley, all of Pittsfield; four daughters, Christine Taglieri and her husband, Steve, of Pittsfield, Kathleen Mange and her husband, John, of Stephentown, N.Y., Beth Hawkins of Nassau, N.Y., and Eileen Dutton and her husband, Harry, of Ithaca, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, Stephen, Justin, Mabil, James, Jodi, Michael, Leigh, Matthew, Jason, Jill, Holly, Mark, and Stephanie; six great-grandchildren, Kevin, Sierra, Sophie, Vera, Alex and Stephen Anthony, as well as two sisters, Hilda Mangano of Pittsfield, and Therese Goodine of Rocky Hill, Conn. Francis was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Paul Palardy, and a granddaughter, Ashley Hawkins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Francis Palardy will be held at St. Mary's Church in Lee, on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. John K. Sheaffer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Lee. There are no calling hours.
