Frederick D. Brown

1927 - 2015 LEE Frederick D. Brown, 88, of Greylock St. in Lee, died Wednesday, October 7th, at the Laurel Lake Center in Lee. He was born in Rutland, VT. on June 27, 1927 the son of Edward and Geraldine Curtis Hitchcock. He moved to Pittsfield in 1939 and was educated in the Pittsfield Schools. He served with the U.S. Navy in WW II and after his discharge completed his high school education graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1947. He worked for Western Mass Electric Co. from 1952 until retiring in 1988 as a Meter Service Representative. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of the Republican State Committee, Greenock Country Club and its Senior League, Moose Club No. 08285525 of Bradenton, FL, former member of the Lee Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served for 36 years serving from 1952 until 1988, a member of I.B.E.W. (Union) of Western Mass., and a member of the Lee Sportsmen's Club. He also was a Lee Little League Coach in the 1960s until the mid-1970s. He leaves his wife, the former Patricia E. Turner, whom he married September 24, 1949; two sons, Douglas E. Brown of Cape Coral, FL and Thomas W. Brown and his wife, Dawn of Burke, VA; one brother, Dwain C. Brown of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Barbara Clark and Nancy Ward both of ME. He also leaves four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Fred Brown will be held on Tuesday, October 13th , at 11a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. At the family's request, there will be no visiting hours. Those wishing may make donations to the Lee Fire Co. in care of the Kelly Funeral Home at 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
