Gary C. Freniere

1942 - 2016 WINDSOR Gary C. Freniere, 73, of 360 North Street died peacefully at home on Tuesday with his loving family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. A longtime Windsor resident, he was born in Springfield on March 26, 1942, the son of the late Charles and Dorothy St. Ledger Freniere. He attended Springfield area schools and was a 1960 graduate of Central High School. After his graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Army. An accomplished chef, Gary apprenticed under famed chef Howard Mitcham in Provincetown, MA. Through the years Gary worked at several local restaurants in Northampton, Lenox, and Pittsfield. At the time of his death he was employed as the lead cook at Hillcrest Educational Centers where he worked for the past 24 years. He was an excellent fisherman and loved being on the water. He also enjoyed billiards and played on leagues in his younger years. He also loved hockey and was a longtime fan of the Boston Bruins. Gary will long be remembered as a hard worker, for the wonderful meals he would prepare for family and friends on special occasions, and most of all how he treasured spending time with his family. He leaves his wife of 35 years Christine St. Jean Freniere of Windsor. A daughter, Alicia Hill and her husband, Christopher of Pittsfield, two sons, Jared Freniere of Windsor and Lucas Freniere of Dalton.
