Gary "Calhoon" Scarbro
1951 - 2012 GREAT BARRINGTON Gary R. "Calhoon" Scarbro, 61, a lifelong resident of Great Barrington, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Fairview Commons Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born in Great Barrington on Dec. 2, 1951, son of the late Harold L. Sr. and Helen Ely Scarbro. He was a 1972 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School. He worked as a steel worker in Houston, Texas, and then as a landscaper for Jamie Mullen. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing and weightlifting.
Gary leaves one daughter, Betsy Huett of Mesina, N.Y.; two brothers, Edward L."Rockie" Scarbro and his wife Barbara of Egremont and Dennis M. Scarbro of Richmond; one sister, Dale E. Keefner and her husband Glenn, of New Marlborough; two grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews, Ann Marie, Kelley, Sherie, Dawn, Nichole, Jamie, Scott, and Sean, as well as nine great-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by a brother, Harold L. Jr. "Butch" Scarbro.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Gary R. "Calhoon" Scarbro who died Oct. 27, will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church with the Rev. William P. Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 4-7 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
