George William Jervas

1936-2012 RICHMOND George William Jervas, 76, of Richmond, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center after suffering a cardiac arrhythemia while working at his business, Bousquet Ski Area.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on January 13, 1936, a son of George and Gertrude Wenieke Jervas, he graduated from New York schools and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Farmingdale College.

Mr. Jervas had owned and operated Bousquet Ski Area for 32 years, purchasing the business from the Bousquet Family in 1981. This is Bousquet's 80th year of operation. Developing Bousquet for year-round recreation was his work and his life.

Prior to Bousquet's Mr. Jervas had worked for Channing Murdock at Butternut which piqued his interest in the ski industry. Prior to that, he had been the administrator of a corporation of nursing homes in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Connecticut.

He loved snow skiing and water skiing. He also enjoyed boating and traveling.

Mr. Jervas is survived by his longtime companion of 19 years, Sherry Roberts, of Richmond.

He is also survived by two sons, Scott Jervas and Troy Jervas, and a daughter, Tammy Jervas, all of Richmond; Sherry's children, Paul Roberts, Jr., and Marki Lee Roberts; as well as a brother, Robert Jervas and his wife, Carol, and two sisters, Helen Signorelli and her husband, Michael, and Dorothy Wolf and her husband, Al, all of Long Island; and his beloved dog, Neko.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life for George William Jervas will be held Saturday, August 25, at 11 a.m., at Bousquet Ski Area. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of

Mr. Jervas may be made to Bousquet Ski Club. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
