1927 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
PITTSFIELD - George Joseph Mickle, 84, of 651 Churchill Street, Pittsfield, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on June 15, 1927, the son of William J. Mickle, Sr., and Evone A. Bernier Mickle, he was a graduate of Pittsfield schools.
He served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.
A mechanic by trade, Mr. Mickle was employed by General Electric Company for 20 years.
He had also worked at the former Mohawk Beverages.
Prior to military duty, he served with the Pittsfield Police Department.
Mr. Mickle leaves his wife, the former Angeline A. Aiello, whom he married September 6, 1952, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judy Douglas and her husband, Steve, of Santee, California, and Karen Filiault and her husband, Retired Police Chief Daniel Filiault, of Dalton; a son, George J. Mickle, Jr., and his wife, Maeve of Portland, Connecticut; and seven grandchildren, Trisha Filiault, Andrea Filiault, and Jeffrey Filiault, Sara Manners and Steven Manners, and Matthew Mickle and Scott Mickle.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for George Joseph Mickle will be private with burial to be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Mickle may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
