1932 2014 ADAMS Mr. George Robert Lawson, 81, of 319 Old Columbia St., died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in Adams on May 11, 1932, a son of the late Gilbert and Eva (Alderman) Lawson. He attended schools in Adams. Mr. Lawson was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the United States Army from June 26, 1950 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on August 8, 1952. Mr. Lawson worked for many years in the maintenance department of the former North Adams State College until retiring in 1994. He was a life member of the Burnette-Bednarz Post 1995 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Adams. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, the former Gloria Demastrie, whom he married on August 11, 1951; three sons, Keith Lawson and his wife Carol, Kevin Lawson and his companion Jill Moncecchi and Kyle Lawson and his wife Lisa, all of Adams; one daughter, Lynn McLear and her husband William of Adams; one brother, Gordon "Butch" Lawson of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister, Bette Szufnarowski of Boston; one brother-in-law, Russell Juif of Adams; one sister-in-law, Ann Lawson of Adams; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, John, Gilbert, Francis and Harold Lawson; and by two sisters, Claire Juif and Eleanor Caffrey. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
