George Shakar 1924-2012 NORTH ADAMS George Shakar 87, of 26 Versailles Ave. North Adams, died Saturday March 10, 2012 at the North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in Adams, on August 7, 1924 a son of the late John and Anna (Nichols) Shaker. He attended schools in North Adams. He was employed for many years at the Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. He was an avid candlepin bowler and participated in several league in the area. He was a lifelong member of the Greylock Community Club and was a member of the North Adams Elks Club. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his son and family. His wife Clara (Baliakos) Shakar whom he married October 8, 1949 in St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams died January 1, 2003. Survivors include his son: Richard G. Shakar and his wife Diane of Ballston Lake, N.Y. Two Grandchildren Nicole Cody and her husband Billy of Fort Ann, N.Y., and Shawn Shakar and his wife Amy of Glenville, N.Y. Two Great grandchildren Patrick and Devin Shakar. One sister: Dolores Anello of the State of Florida. Godchild : Edward Kata and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a son George Shaker and a brother and sister: Michael Shakar and Marie Kata. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. At St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, Ma. Calling Hours at the Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, Ma. are Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Memorial Donations are suggested for the of American Heart Assoc through the funeral home
