Gertrude G. Clairmont 1923-2012 ADAMS Mrs. Gertrude (Gagnon) Clairmont, 88, of 211 East Road, Adams, died Thursday morning, April 12, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was born in Ontario, Canada on September 1, 1923, daughter of the late Alcime and Aurore (Bellefeuille) Gagnon. She attended schools in New York, and graduated from Keveny Academy in Cohoes, N.Y., in 1943. She had lived in Adams since 1948. Mrs. Clairmont worked as a telephone operator at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for many years, until retiring in 1988. Earlier, she had worked for several years at the former New England Telephone Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Pope John Paul the Great, Adams, and of the former Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, and was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne. She enjoyed traveling and cooking for her family. Her husband, Leopold "Paul" Clairmont, whom she married on June 29, 1948, died on April 28, 1975. She is survived by two sons, Glen Clairmont of Adams, and Vincent Clairmont and his wife, Dawn, of Sugarland, Texas; a sister, Beatrice Gagnon of Montreal, Canada; four Grandchildren, Matthew and Danielle Clairmont of Adams; and Brett and Todd Clairmont of Sugarland, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Leo, George and Raymond Gagnon. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 18th, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of Pope John Paul the Great, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
