1925 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Gertrude Mary Klupfel Fairweather, "Gert" 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsfield, October 24, 1925, the daughter of George R. and Lisely S. Klupfel. She attended the local schools and graduated in 1948 from St. Joseph Central High School. She was valedictorian of her class. Continuing her education, she graduated from secretarial school with high honors. In addition to being a loving and caring wife and mother of six children, Mrs. Fair-weather was employed as a Senior Administrative Assistant for the Pittsfield Public Schools for 28 years. A longtime communicant of St. Charles Church, she had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of the Church Choir, the Rosary Sodality, the National Conference of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Pittsfield School Department Secretaries Association. Gert and her husband of 64 years, Paul B. Fairweather were married on February 3, 1951. Besides her husband she is survived by her six children, Elizabeth Mordaszewski and her husband, Richard, P. Michael Fairweather and his wife, Sarah, James M. Fairweather and his wife, Elizabeth, Amy Fairweather, Theresa Albert and her husband, Denis, and John Fairweather. Gertrude also leaves her nine grandchildren, James M. Fairweather, Kristen Morin, Timothy Albert, Kaitlin Fairweather, Matthew Fairweather, Amanda Fairweather, Danielle Fairweather, Caroline Fairweather, and Gwendolyn Fairweather. Gertrude was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Madison Fairweather, Avery Morin and John P. Fairweather. Additionally, she is survived by her her sister, Margaret Scanlon and two step sisters, Albertine Williams and Midge Goodrich. She also leaves a nephew, Thomas Scanlon, and nieces Katherine Scott and Susan Detweiler. Gert was predeceased by her parents and sister Cecilia Killfoile. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center (Sedgwick Unit) for all the special love and kindness shown to Gertrude . FUNERAL NOTICE The funeral for Gertrude Klupfel Fairweather will be held on her 90th birthday, Saturday October 24, 2015 at 8:30 AM from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home. If friends desire, donations may be made to either the Western Mass. or to Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center Sedgwick Unit Activities Fund in care of the funeral home.
