Gertrude E. Kelley

1928-2013 SANDISFIELD Gertrude E. Kelley, 84, of Sandisfield died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 6th following an 18 month struggle with leukemia.

She was born in Pittsfield on October 2, 1928, the daughter of the late William R. and Gertrude A. Klingler. She graduated from Lee High School in 1946 and went to work for General Electric.

She served as Sandisfield Tax Collector for many years followed by over 20 years as an accountant with William Stevens, Stevens and Dawson, then T. Dawson, CPA. She was an active member of the PTA, Treasurer of the Council on Aging, Legion Auxiliary, and Sandisfield Historical Society.

She was also a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Sheffield.

Gertrude cherished time with family and friends above all else, was a devoted conservationist, and enjoyed reading, gardening, tackling the New York Times Crossword puzzle, and her dogs.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, David A. Kelley Sr., as well as her brother William Klingler of Nevada City, Calif., and son-in-law Paul Lasch of Sandisfield.

She is survived by her children, Jaque Kelley-Uyeoka and family of Kailua, HI, Roberta Lasch and family of Sandisfield, David Kelley and family of Carlisle, Pa., and Patricia Lamont and family of Becket. She leaves 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, born November 25th 2012, and many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Mass for Gertrude E. Kelley will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 99 Maple Avenue, Sheffield, MA, with Rev. Bruce Teague, celebrant. Burial will be at the Sandisfield Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends immediately following the Mass at the Parish Hall.

There will be no calling hours.
