Gertrude H. Pigeon

1920 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Adams, Mass. Passed at 8:35 a.m., March 5, 2013, at the St. Joseph Manor, Brockton, Mass. She had been ill for many years with Alzheimer's.

Wife of the late Bernard A. Pigeon, sister of the late Catherine Gravel, Robert Gannon and Francis Gannon.

She leaves her son, Bernard R. Pigeon, three grandchildren, Danyelle Roppolo, Andrea Pigeon and Shauna Hanlon. Also four great-grandchildren, Miranda Roppolo, Eric Roppolo, Shawn Roppolo, and Charles Hanlon.

Gert was born and raised in Adams, attending school in Adams and playing in the marching band where she and her husband met. She and her husband were married in St. Thomas Church and, after several years, built their home in Cheshire and were involved in many community activities there. They enjoyed square dancing and Gert ran a Square Dance Clothes shop for several years.

She worked and retired from Sprague Electric, moving to Woolrich, Pennsylvania, for her husband's work. When he retired, they toured the United States in their camper, seeing all but three states. In 1993, they returned to their home in Cheshire where their hearts had always been.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Gertrude H. Pigeon will take place Friday, March 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Association in care of the funeral home.
