Gilda DiNicola

1922 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Gilda DiNicola age 91, died Tuesday Aug. 26, 2014 at the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. She was born on Oct. 8, 1922, a daughter of the late Levino and Anna D'Ilio in Sambuceto, Abruzzi, Italy. She was educated in Italian Schools and she came to this country in 1948 as the wife of Albert DiNicola, they were married for 22 years until his death in 1970. She worked at Elmvale Worsted Co., Stratton Coat Factory and General Electric for 15 years, retiring in 1984. At the time of her death Gilda resided at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. She lived life to the fullest and loved to be around her family, playing bocce, bowling, traveling, doing arts and crafts and cooking. She brought laughter, kindness and love to all who knew her. She was a member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge No. 564 of Pittsfield, Italian American Club and a former member of the Mt. Carmel Church Ladies Guild. She had been a communicant of the former Mt. Carmel Church and currently was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her son, Albert and his wife, Elizabeth, four grandchildren, Jennifer Hould and her husband, Todd of Pittsfield, Michael DiNicola and his wife, Vanessa of Tucson, Ariz., Mary-Jane Lusignan of Carlisle, Pa. and Sarah Perrone and her husband, David of Pittsfield; 10 great-grandchildren, Ian, Joseph, Mitchell and Emma Lusignan, Kaleb and Katrina Hould, Antonio and Miah DiNicola and Emily and Kathryn Perrone; her sister, Norina Ciaschetti and her husband Gino, and brother-in-law Tomasso DiCesare in Italy. She was predeceased by eight sisters and three brothers all from Italy and Albert D'Ilio of Pittsfield MA. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI- BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to in care of the funeral home.
