Giovanni "John" Provenzano

1934 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Giovanni "John" Provenzano, 81 of 75 Newell St., passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Canicatti, Province of Agrigento, Sicily on August 24, 1934 the son of the late Vincenzo and Rosa (LoGiudice), Provenzano. He attended schools in Italy and then immigrated to the United States and settled in Pittsfield, MA in 1969. He graduated from Pittsfield High School. He was employed by Petricca Construction Co. and then at Mead Paper Co. in South Lee, MA for 22 years and he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Italian American Club and the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge No. 564 of Pittsfield. He enjoyed watching soccer and wrestling on television, gardening, wood working and masonry. Survivors include his wife, the former Louise Carmichael and they were married on August 16, 1997; one son, Vincent C. Provenzano of Pittsfield, MA, one daughter, Carmen M. Ostrander and her husband, Jason of Great Barrington; two stepsons, Kevin Krouson of Cheshire, and Ian Krouson of Narragansett, RI and two step-grandchildren, Abigail and Olivia. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Angela Noto who died on April 25, 1992. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 8a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 400 West St., Pittsfield, MA with the Rev. Michael Lillpopp, Pastor of Sts. Patrick and Raphael Church in Williamstown officiating. Burial will follow in the Family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling Hours at the Funeral Home will be Friday, October 16, from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Italian American Club in care of the funeral home.
