Gladys Archambeau Clairmont

Gladys Archambeau Clairmont, 88, died Monday, April 28th, at Berkshire Medical Center, after a short illness.A lifelong resident of Pittsfield, she was born on April 12th, 1926, daughter of the late Leo E. Archambeau and Rose Alma Plante Archambeau. She was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. For many years, she was a homemaker, where she devoted herself to the care and nurturing of her five children. When her children grew older, she became an optometrist's assistant to the late Dr. Max Fishelson. She enjoyed reading, politics, contra dancing, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laura R. Weissbrod, in 1982; her husband Joseph N. Clairmont, in 1983; and her brother, Leo B. Archambeau, in 2013. She leaves her children and their spouses: Carol and David Weissbrod of Washington, Mass.; Bruce Clairmont of Pittsfield; Diane Clairmont of Pittsfield; Brian and Karen Clairmont of Pittsfield; and Barry and Cheryl Clairmont of Pittsfield. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Goguen of Pittsfield; ten grandchildren: Michael Weissbrod and Natalie Weissbrod; Kimberly Burke, Kendra Krol, Nathan Clairmont, Rebekah Rapoza, and Ryan Clairmont; Allison Clairmont and Nicole Clairmont; and Austin Clairmont. In addition, she leaves four great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Berkshire Place for their kind and compassionate care during their mother's final months. There will be no calling hours. A private burial service at Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown will be held at a later date. The family would appreciate donations to the in lieu of flowers. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/
