Gladys E. Lennon

1927 - 2013 DALTON Gladys E. Lennon, 85, of Elm St., passed away Wednesday at her home, following a long illness.

Born May 18, 1927 in Pittsfield, the daughter of Clarence W. and Grace E. Kent Smith, she attended Dalton Public Schools.

Gladys worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at local nursing homes, and she owned and operated Lennon's Beauty Salon. She also worked at Kmart for several years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Lennon; by her eldest son, Robert Hunt, by a brother, Clarence Smith, and by a brother, George Smith.

Gladys leaves a son, Clayton Lennon of Florida and his wife Tommye; her daughter, Bonnie Leach, and her husband, Steve Leach, who both lived with and cared for her; her daughter-in-law Patty Hunt of Hinsdale, and her sister, Ruth Bullet of New York. She leaves four grandchildren, Robin MacPherson, Tricia Hunt, Joseph Lennon and Shannon Messer, and eight great-grandchildren, Dylan Bencivenga, Alex Chadbourne, Abby Chadbourne, Chase MacPherson, Shea MacPherson, Patience MacPherson, Sierra Leach and Willow Vachula.

Gladys loved playing bingo and enjoyed painting, crafting and knitting through the years. She enjoyed life and was actively involved in the lives of her family and had great fun playing games and cards with anyone who would play with her. Gladys was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services for Gladys E. Lennon will be Monday, April 15, at 1 p.m. in the Ashuelot Cemetery, with the Rev. Daina Salinitis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts, 66 West Street, Suite L 2, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
