1933 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mr. Glenn Hoag, 82, of Melbourne Rd., passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on May 13, 1933 the son of William and Helen Harrington Hoag, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He later studied Liberal Arts and Forestry at the University of Maine. Mr. Hoag's college education ended prior to graduation when he was drafted into the US Army. He was a Korean War Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal. While in the Army he served as a Radio Operator. Glenn worked for over 30 at Pete's Motors in Pittsfield where he was Service Manager. He also owned and operated Friends Market and Liquor Store in Dalton for 12 years. He enjoyed playing hockey and was a hockey coach at the Boys Club for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Glenn especially enjoyed time spent with family, friends and animals. Mr. Hoag leaves his wife of 57 years, the former Patricia Toomey whom he married on October 26, 1957. He is also survived by his four children, Colleen Bartini and her husband, Mark, Kim Wendling and her companion, Bruce Meissner, Brian Hoag and his wife, Lisa and Karen Hoag-Patti and her husband, Geoffrey; a brother, Paul Hoag and his wife, Janet; five grandchildren, Megan Kane and her husband, Jon, Glenna Havens and her husband, Bob, Matt Hoag, Hunter Hoag and Skye Patti; four great-grandchildren, Audrey Havens, Chase Kane and twins, Booker and Henry Havens. He also leaves his springer spaniel and buddy, Libby. Glenn was predeceased by his siblings, Andress Hoag, Kenneth Hoag, Herb Hoag and Virginia Scutt. "We lost our best friend; the one who taught us how to live exceptional lives; the one who was always compassionate, kind, strong and honest; the best husband, father, papa and friend. We will miss you greatly but know you are watching over us. We are steadfast in our faiths and find comfort in knowing where you are and who you are with. Until we meet again.We Love You!" FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of Glenn's life will be held at Mazzeo's Restaurant this Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 3 to 6 p.m. There will not be a formal service at Mazzeo's, but, instead a time for family and friends to come and go as they please and share memories they may have of Glenn and also a chance to express condolences.
