Gloria King Obituary
Gloria C. Roche King, 93, of 88 Edward Ave. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsfield, September 30, 1922 the daughter of Almon & Mary Zanini Roche, she attended the local schools graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1940. Gloria was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker for many years. Mrs. King was employed for several years at the switchboard at Berkshire Medical Center. She later transferred to payroll from where she retired in 1988. A longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church, her favorite hobbies were braiding rugs, quilting, counter cross stitching and reading. Gloria especially enjoyed reading the Murder She Wrote series. She loved taking trips to Cape Cod, especially enjoying the view from Wychmere Harbor in Harwichport, the Friday night Band Concerts in Chatham, and her time spent in Dennisport. She is survived by her children, Kevin King (Frances) of Falmouth, Daniel King (Maureen) of Canaan, NY, Michael King (Nancy), Mary King, and William King (Kari) of Pittsfield, Margaret Gingras (Michael) of Peabody, and Ann Marie Piel (Rick) of Nassau, NY, her son in law Paul Procopio of Pittsfield, her brothers, Donald Roche (Barbara) of Pittsfield, and David Hawley (Diana) of California, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving daughter, Cathleen Procopio who died August 13, 2011, brothers, Almon and Calvin and a sister, Carolyn. FUNERAL NOTICE Private funeral services for Gloria King will be held at the Dwyer Funeral home with Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
