Grace E. Foley

1911-2012 HYANNIS Grace E. Foley, 101, of Main St. died Wednesday at Pavilion Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hyannis, Mass.

Born April 23, 1911 in Pittsfield, the daughter of Michael L. and Grace A. Dooley Foley, she was a 1929 graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield, attended Bender Laboratory in Albany, N.Y., and graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.

Grace worked as a laboratory technician for twenty two years. She then became the first librarian at the Kitt Peak National Observatory for Research in Astronomy in Tucson, Ariz.

Grace was a volunteer librarian at the Beacon Foundation for the Mentally Retarded in Tucson. A volunteer in the medical library at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis and the Cape Cod Unit of the American Cancer Society, Hyannis. She was a member of the Women's Guild of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.

Grace leaves her brother John S. Foley of Lenox, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters Frances F. Gibney and Helen L. Sharkey.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral Mass for Grace E. Foley will be held Saturday, September 15 at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Monsignor Michael Shershanovich officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There will a time of visitation on the day of the service starting at 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
