She was the daughter of the late Anni Marie Olson and Sigurd Claussen and was the step-daughter of the late Jack Olson. Grace grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in 1948. She met her husband, Roger Garcia of Jackson Heights, N.Y., while on a resort holiday and they married on Sept. 18, 1954. They relocated from Brooklyn to the Berkshires in 1956 when Roger started his career at General Electric, Pittsfield, and started their family with the birth of their first child in June 1956. Grace, who shared 53 years of marriage with her husband, Roger, dedicated her life to her family and raising their children.

Grace leaves three daughters and three sons-in-law; Susan and Randy Wallingford of Pittsfield, Laura and Andrew Deacon of Badby, England, and Jeanne and Jonathan Prins of Frederick, Md. She also leaves five grandchildren; Christen Clark of San Francisco, Lauren Clark of Chicago, Scott Clark of Pittsfield, and Lucas and Ian Prins of Frederick. Grace is survived by her loving sister-in-law Norma Martell and three nephews, William, Roger and David Boccio, all of Long Island, N.Y. along with two cousins, Lois Andersen of Concord and Gail Tonnessen of Warwick, R.I.

She was predeceased by her beloved cousin (sister) Gladys Tonnessen, who passed away a few weeks ago on Grace's birthday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents at Kimball Farms Nursing Home for their friendship and the compassionate and loving care provided to Grace during her four-year stay with them. They would also like to thank HospiceCare in the Berkshires for providing great support to Grace and her family during the last several weeks of Grace's life.
