Grier Bovey Miller

1921-2013 Grier Bovey Miller, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on January 11, 2013. He was 91 years old.

Patient and loving, Grier was passionate about the world he lived in, and always engaged with it. He enjoyed life fully. He was an avid sailor, cyclist and reader, and actively maintained his ham radio contacts throughout his life as K1AU.

He was born on July 8, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pa., the eldest son of Julian F and Mildred H Miller. He grew up in Glassboro, N.J., and sailed with the Merchant Marine as a radio operator in the Atlantic during World War II, before enlisting in the Army. While in Paris after the Liberation, he met the love of his life, Jacqueline Mahieu. They were married on April 11, 1946, and returned to the US together. Grier graduated from Lehigh University in 1949, and went to work for General Electric as an electrical engineer. During his early years at GE, the family lived in several places around the country, finally settling in Lenox in 1958. After he retired from GE Pittsfield in 1987, Grier and Jackie enjoyed spending time at their home in Nantucket.

Grier is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his three children Michele, Nicole, and Alan, his grandchildren Riley Murkett and Palmer Taipale, sons-in-law Peter Murkett and Kim Taipale and sister Elizabeth Piscitelli. We'll miss you forever Grier.
