Harold Moreau

1919 - 2014 WILLIAMSTOWN Mr. Harold Louis "Joe" Moreau, 95, of 91 Bachand Ave. died Saturday Dec. 20 at the Chelsea Soldiers Home in Chelsea. He was born in North Adams, on Nov. 12, 1919, son of Edward J. and Clemencia (Menard) Moreau. He graduated from Drury High School in 1941. While in high school, he was a well-known athlete and was a member of the Western Mass. Football championship team. He later played semi-pro football and baseball with the St. Anthony Crusaders and the Whitney Packers football team. Joe was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Navy on the USS Milwaukee. Joe worked at Sprague Electric Co. for 31 years until his retirement in 1982. Later in life, he played softball and golf. He also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the North Adams Retirees. His wife was the former Mildred (Jennings) Moreau who died on Aug. 4, 2007. They were married on Nov. 16, 1946 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Survivors include five nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was pre -deceased by one sister and two brothers including, Florence Adams, Joseph Moreau, and Edward Moreau. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will be held Tuesday Dec. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Southview Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
