Helen D. Stomski Keeler

1928 - 2015 MECHANICSBURG PA. Helen D. Stomski Keeler, 86 of Mechanicsburg, Pa., died Saturday, April 11, peacefully at her home from lung cancer. Born Nov. 1, 1928 in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (Fetner) Mercure. Helen was proud of her World War II work effort at G.E. in Pittsfield while she was going to high school, as a "spark plug assembler," much like the historical "Rosie the Riveter." She also worked at Wilson's Garden Center, Eaton Paper Company, and retired from Berkshire County Public School System in Lenox. Helen, an accomplished cook and fastidious house keeper, enjoyed entertaining, spending time with her family and friends; a talented ballroom dancer she proudly displayed a trophy in her home. She was also an accomplished gardener and showed her husband how to do it correctly. She was a devout Christian, sang in her church choir, directed and taught Sunday school at Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield. She and Bobby were also members of the Road Angels Car Club of Dillsburg, where they took country tours and attended car shows where they proudly displayed their collectible car. Helen was a member of the Retired State, County & Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts. Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard S. Stomski; and by her siblings, Kenneth Mercure, Dorothy Tinney, and Velma Tiff. She is survived by her husband, Robert Keeler (Bobby as she lovingly called him), of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Pittsfield; her five children, Robert A. Stomski of Jamaica, Vt., The Most Rev. Dr. William L. Stomski of Boca Raton, Fla., Judith (Kozak) Shaw of Dalton, Mass., Gerald D. Stomski of Wilmington, N.C., David B. Stomski of Rye Brook, N.Y.; her two stepsons, Craig R. Keeler of Dillsburg, Pa., and Keith R. Keeler of Palm Bay, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, Pa. Viewing will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, April 20, at MALPEZZI FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg. An additional memorial service will take place at the Wellington Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Mass., the time and date will be announced when arrangements have been finalized. Interment will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery beside her late husband Bernard Stomski. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the fund established for the benefit of her son, Gerald, who was severely burned as the result of an accident.
