Helen Renzi 1924 - 2012 WILLIAMSTOWN Helen Renzi died on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at her home in Williamstown. Helen is the last survivor of five children of Mary and Joseph Greco. Born in Brooklyn N.Y. on May 21, 1924, she graduated with a major in Education from West Chester University in 1945. She did her graduate studies at Penn State University, Boston University, and locally at MCLA. She was married to Ralph Renzi on June 18, 1949. During her 25-year career in the Williamstown public schools, she served as an elementary school teacher, a principal, and a superintendent of schools. The elementary school named its multi-purpose room after Mrs. Renzi, where in her honor each year since 1986 the Helen G. Renzi Award is given to four "great kids" from the sixth grade. She was a lector at St. Patrick's Church and volunteered at the Milne Public Library, The Women's Exchange, North Berkshire Hospice, and Child Care of the Berkshires. In 1996 she received the Faith Scarborough Community Service Award. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Renzi, and Mary Jo Renzi, Maggie Renzi and John Sayles; Marta Renzi and Daniel Wolff; Mark Renzi and Carole Jolly; sister-in-law Kathryn Greco; by her grandchildren Rachel and Jessica Renzi, Luke Robertson, Amos and Lorenzo Wolff, Marco and Julianna Jolly Renzi, and her great-grandchild Cecilia Renzi Arevalo; her nieces and nephews and her valued friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Mass will be held at Thompson Memorial Chapel in Williamstown on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 10 a.m. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the chapel from 9:30 to 10.
