Henry E. Bounds

1948 - 2014 FLORIDA Henry Eugene Bounds, 65, of 74 Monroe Rd. Florida, Mass., died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at North Adams Regional Hospital, after he was stricken earlier in the day. Today we lost our beloved, but heaven is rejoicing as they welcome home another angel. He was born in North Adams, on Aug. 4, 1948, son of Warren and Bessie Holt Bounds, and attended schools in the town of Florida, graduating from Drury High School. Henry was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was last employed by Yellow Freight Co. for over 20 years until his retirement. Henry was a member of the Teamsters Union, had previously driven trucks for Paramount and MGM movie companies, and for many years, competed in national truck championships all over the country. Henry was a Christian Minister and served as the interim pastor of the Florida Baptist Church, where he was also an active member. He served on the church Board of Deacons and as a Trustee. He leaves behind his church family, who he loved so much, and his adult Sunday School class, who inspired him every week. Henry was a volunteer, for many years, with the Aggie Fair, working as a judge for the fairs local photography contest, and the fairs official photographer. He loved to pursue his passion of photography by filming weddings, local events, and views from our natural landscapes white on adventures with his beloved dog, Ginger. Henry was active in the town of Florida and was a member of its Memorial Committee. He was a former member of the Select Board, the School Committee and the Finance Committee for the town. He was also a volunteer at the Friendship Center, and helped people with transportation to hospitals. Survivors include his wife, the former Sheila Gregory, whom he married on Sep. 5, 1970, in Cheshire; a daughter, Jennifer A. Therrien and her husband, Thomas, of Savoy; a son, Rick Bounds of Westborough, Mass.; a granddaughter, Nora Bessie Therrien of Savoy, who was the apple of grandpa's eye; his brother, William Bounds and his wife, Becky, of Jackson, Miss.; his twin sister, Henrietta Pyeatt and her husband, Robert, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his extended McDonald Family, especially his dear friend, Phyllis Blair. In Henry's memory take time today to extend a hand to someone in love, friendship, or support. Godspeed "Mr. Fantastic" - John 3:16. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Henry Bounds will be Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Florida Baptist Church. Burial will be in the spring in Florida Church Cemetery. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Please omit flowers.
