Henry A. Wojcik Jr.

1935 - 2014 ADAMS Henry Anthony Wojcik Jr., 78, of 5 Mountain View Dr., died Friday evening, Feb., 28, 2014, at the Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Adams on March 20, 1935, son of the late Henry A. and Caroline J. Mendel Wojcik, he attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1953. Henry was first employed with the former Brightwater Paper Co. in Adams, and then for the General Electric Co, in Pittsfield in the Power Transformer Department, taking an early retirement in 1991. He then became employed part time for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, as a van driver for the Education Department, and also in security, retiring in 2003. Henry joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard in Adams, and after 40 of service, was discharged with the rank of Sgt. Major in 1992, and was very proud of his patriotic service to his country. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. He was a member of Adams Post 160 of the American Legion, Adams Lodge of Elks 1335, where he served on various committees, and the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs Association. His first wife, the former Maxine White, whom he married on Dec. 30, 1965, died June 3, 2005. He is survived by his second wife, the former Alice Brown, whom he married on July 30, 2010; two daughters, Lorraine Sigsbury and her husband, John, of Bennington, Debra Bettis and her husband, Joseph, of Adams; a son, Robert Wojcik and his wife, Carol, of Cheshire; a sister, Linda Munsinger and her husband, Fred, of New Lebanon, N.Y.; two brothers, John Wojcik and his wife, Patricia, and David Wojcik, of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, William Vidal, Christopher and Haley Sigsbury, Jessica and Crystal Wojcik, Melanie Blanchard, and Zachary Bettis; a great-grandchild, Connor Vidal; two stepsisters, Mary Cole and her husband, Roger, of Ocala, Fla., and Shirley Therrien of North Adams, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Wojcik. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Henry will take place Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 9 a.m., from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter or the Adams Lodge of Elks, in care of the funeral home.
