Howard A. Terry

HINSDALE Howard A. Terry, 83, of South Windsor, Conn., beloved husband for 61 years to Sally (Daly) Terry, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Springfield, Mass., the son of Howard and Ellen (McNulty) Terry, he grew up in Longmeadow, Mass. Howard was a graduate of Hampden College of Pharmacy, Class of 1954 and was a registered pharmacist for over 50 years. He was also a proud U. S. Army veteran. Following his stint in the service, he returned to retail pharmacy. He then became a pharmaceutical sales rep/ manager for Warner Lambert until his retirement in 1987. Howard and his family lived in Hinsdale, Mass. for years before moving to South Windsor, Conn. in 1975. While residing in Hinsdale, Howard was actively engaged in town affairs serving as Chairman of the Board of Education and as a Selectman. He was also active in the Lions Club, serving as President. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Liz Terry, Christopher Terry and his wife, Dolores of Fairfax, Va., Joanne Warren and her husband, David of Dalton, Mass., Patty Eksuzian and her husband Dean of Pittsfield, Mass. and David Terry and his significant other, Renee King of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jonathan Terry and his wife, Grace of Lee, Mass., Patrick Terry of Lee, Jennifer Garone and her husband Michael of Clearwater, Fla., Lauren Watson of Fairfax, Va., Crystal Allessio and her husband, Timothy of Dalton, and Erica Warren and her spouse, Cici Harrison of Brooklyn, N.Y. He also left six great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Timothy, Nathan, Shane, Isaac and Beatrice. Howard was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Ellen Terry and his beloved grandson, Michael Warren. FUNERAL NOTICE: His family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SAMSEL CARMON FUNERAL HOME, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5 at 9 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor, Conn. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, South Windsor with military honors. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Town of South Windsor, Special Needs Fund, 150 Nevers Road, South Windsor, CT 06074 or to St. Francis Hospice, 95 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105.
