Irene M. Cody 1925 - 2011 PITTSFIELD Irene M. Cody, 86, of 113 Deming St., Pittsfield, died Dec. 9, 2011, at her home. Born on Aug. 11, 1925, in Pittsfield, daughter of Michael and Wladyslawa Debicka Murawski, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Cody was last employed for the Berkshire Life Insurance Company as a loss claim policy adjuster for 25 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to Berkshire Life she had been employed for the General Electric Company. She was a communicant of Saint Joseph's Church and was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Family Church where she was a member of its Mothers Guild and Rosary Sodality. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and the Ralph Froio Senior Center. She enjoyed woodworking, gardening and hiking and had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Pittsfield Beautiful. She is survived by her daughter, Loraine M. Wies and her husband, Lawrence, of Saratoga Springs, NY. ; one brother, Edward Morawski and his wife, Teri, of Carson City, NV; two sisters, Monica C. Duda of Dalton and Lecadia Serowik of Pittsfield, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Sophia Murawski, and by seven brothers, Ernest, Stanley, Walter, Thaddeus, Charles, William and Zigmond Murawski. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Irene M. Cody will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at 11 A.M. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA, with Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Ralph Froio Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
