Irene M. Lambert

1914 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Irene Marie (Bouffard) Lambert, 100, of 10 Freeman Ave., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in St. Helene, Quebec, Canada, on April 15, 1914, daughter of Archille and Aurure (Leblanc) Bouffard. She moved to the United States at the age of 9 and attended schools in Westfield, Vt. Irene worked in the cotton mills in Burlington, Vt., until she moved to North Adams in 1939. She was first employed at the former Hoosac Cotton Mill and then worked at Cornish Wire in Williamstown until her retirement in 1982. She then worked as a housekeeper and self-employed landscaper. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Irene was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping. She was the widow of Louis George Lambert who died on Oct. 2, 1992. They were married on June 1, 1935, in Burlington, Vt. Survivors include three daughters, Marielle Kordana of Bernardston, Clarise Vanderburgh and Carole Lambert-Superneau both of North Adams; one son, George Lambert of Milford, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Mitchell of Burlington, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters, including Rena Pepin, Jeannette Plumb, Yvette Bouffard, Mary Rose Platta, Henry Bouffard, Lionel Bouffard. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Irene Lambert will be Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 10:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
