Irene G. Placido

1931-2012 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Irene G. Placido 80, of 2 Almon Avenue, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her home in the loving presence of her family.

She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on November 26, 1931 a daughter of the late George and Mary (Lusick) Molchanoff. She attended Schools in Syracuse, N.Y. While living in Pittsfield she was employed at Sheaffer-Eaton Paper Company for 10 years and for 20 years was a Certified Nursing Assistant at former Berkshire Nursing Home, Valley View Nursing Home and was last employed by Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Irene was a communicant of St. Marks Church and enjoyed Gardening and in 2003 received an acknowledgement from the Berkshire Garden Club.

Her Husband Nicholas D. Placido died on May 26, 2007 and, they were married on August 20, 1955.

Survivors include one Son, Mark Placido and his wife Cynthia of Pittsfield, One Daughter, Tina Giroux and her Husband David of Adams, three Sisters, Ann Carley of Dearborn, Mich., Olga Styrzo & Mary Armstrong of Syracuse, N.Y., two grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Placido, several nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Stella Restucca, Helen Gustke and Andrew, Leo, James, Joseph Molchanoff.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will take place Monday, August 13, 2012 at 8 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME 5 Elm St, Pittsfield, MA, 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Mark's Church with the Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Sunday, August 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
