1923 2015 ADAMS Mrs. Irene Agnes (Careau) Shaw, 91, of 25 Adams Road, Williamstown, formerly of 35 Valley St., Adams, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Williamstown Commons. She was born in Adams on June 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Frederick and Selma (Leppelt) Careau. She attended schools in Adams. Mrs. Shaw last worked as a sample maker for the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams, until retiring in 1986. Earlier she had owned and operated the former Lunch Room, which was located in the former Arnold Print Works, Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II, Adams. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, working on jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family. Her husband, Donald W. Shaw, whom she married on May 14, 1949, died on February 23, 1981. She is survived by two sons, Michael Shaw and his wife, Diane of Dudley, Mass. and Joseph Shaw and his wife, Gerilyn, of North Adams; two daughters, Sylvia Les and her husband, Ronald of Cheshire, and Carol Aitken and her husband, James of Adams; one sister, Ellen Leitch of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Angela Nelson and her husband, Tim, Brian Shaw and his wife, Stacey, Amanda Les and Erin Kelly; two great-grandchildren, Lucy Nelson and Hailey Shaw; one sister-in-law, Marlene Gazaille; one brother-in-law, Daniel LaFleur; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Francis Careau and one sister, Rita Burgess. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Thursday, February 5, at 10:30 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
