Irmgard (Amie) Bartzsch

1922 - 2015 Irmgard (Amie) Bartzsch, age 92, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, July 5, 2015. She was born October 8, 1922 in Vogelsang-Grunholz, Germany to Edward J. Mohr and Elizabeth (Marten) Mohr. In March of 1927 they moved to Bronx, N.Y. and later moved to Sandisfield, MA in 1936. There she enjoyed attending a one room schoolhouse for one year and then attended High School in Lee graduating in 1941. She then went on to work in Manhattan in an office of Electrical Jobbers for two years. During WWII she worked for the Torrington Co. for four years. On October 16, 1943 she married a chilldhood friend, Karl Bartzsch, while he was at Officers Training School in Jacksonville, FL. He was stationed in the Pacific for six years in the Navy and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Amie worked for Wash N' Dri in Canaan, CT. for four years and Becton Dickinson in the shipping department for 22 years. Amie was predeceased by her husband, Karl, in December of 1970. She leaves a son, Karl Bartzsch and his wife, Cheryl of New Port Richey, FL., a daughter, Chris Clavette, of Ashley Falls, MA, three grandsons, Kurt Bartzsch and his wife, Lisa of Ashley Falls, Scott Bartzsch of Sheffield, and Mike Clavette and his wife, Marissa of Ashley Falls, as well as two great-granddaughters, Audrey Bartzsch and Maggie Clavette. Amie had a special love for the truth of God's Word, his congregation and her ministry. She was an avid reader enjoying historical novels and biographies. She enjoyed traveling in Europe and winters in Florida and Brazil. She was very fond of opera, classical music, art and Tanglewood. She will be dearly missed by her family and many close friends who appreciated her positive spirit, faith, encouragement and sense of humor. SERVICES: A memorial service, conducted by Tenney Fales, will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, at the corner of Kellogg Rd. and Route 7 in Sheffield, on Saturday, July 25th, 2015 at 2 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made through : birchesroyfuneralservices.com
