Irving Pierce Obituary

Irving S. Pierce

1936 - 2015 Irving S. Pierce left this world on Feb. 25, 2015, doing what he enjoyed most; spending time with his family. Born in Springfield, MA on Oct. 19, 1936 to Stanley and Lillian Pierce, he was a 1955 graduate from Springfield Technical High School. An Airman in the United States Air Force he served his country honorably until 1963, during which time he received the "Good Conduct" medal. Irving spent the majority of his professional career employed as a draftsman for General Electric. Having moved to Nevada in 2009, Irving made Carson City home in his final years. A devoted sports fan, he would share his passions and thoughts with all he encountered; in particular his love of Red Sox baseball. A love so great, his biggest heartbreak in life was never seeing a Red Sox championship as a kid. In his spare time Irving was an avid chess and Scrabble player. A lifetime member of the United States Chess Federation, he at one point obtained a max rating of "Expert". He was a kind and generous man who would spare no expense when it came to the needs of others, or a good meal. Simplicity was his mantra; his most complex decision being what tasty treat he would indulge in next. Irving's biggest legacy will be his enduring and unconditional love that will live on through future generations and all those he met. Surviving are his sister, Barbara Rapisarda and her two children, a daughter, Kimberly (Glenn) Dawson, a son, Alan (Melissa) Pierce, six grandchildren and former spouse, Karen Guinan. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local food bank in honor of Irving's love for food.
