Isabelle S. Kelson 1924-2015 PITTSFIELD -- Isabelle S. Kelson, 91, passed away at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility on Friday, August 7th, 2015. She was born May 3, 1924 in Pittsfield, MA. The daughter of Murray E. and Alice E. Sprague of Pittsfield, she was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church. A 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School, Isabelle then moved to Marblehead and worked as a bank teller in Boston, MA. Upon returning to Pittsfield, she wed her first husband Robert L. Davis. Soon after, she and her husband moved to Long Island, New York where they started a family and resided for 30 years. In 1974, Isabelle moved back to Pittsfield with her family. She, then, married Carlisle W. Kelson in 1981. Mrs. Kelson worked at Berkshire Bank as a teller and was a member of Cheshire Lions Club and Esther Ling Chapter at First Baptist Church. In her later years, she joined R.S.V.P.'s Foster Grandparents Program and volunteered for seven years at Capeless Elementary School where she spent her time supporting children's literacy in a first grade classroom. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Barbara D. Tulloch and her husband, John of Pittsfield, a granddaughter Kimberlee S. Robertson, and husband Sean, a grandson Scott R. Chappell, and a great-granddaughter Mia K. Chappell. She was predeceased by her daughter April D. Strattner of Glen Cove, NY, who died in 1986, her first husband Robert, who died in 1994, her second husband Carlisle, who died in 1996, a brother Sherwood R. Sprague of Eastham, MA, who died in 2003, a sister Barbara L. Singletary of Wallingford, PA, who died in 2011, and a son-in-law Carlisle W. Kelson, III of Elkhart, IN, who died in 2013. The family would like to acknowledge the supportive and loving people of Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be held at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, East Street, Pittsfield on Wednesday, August 12, at 10 a.m., with a Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. William Furey, beginning at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Angela Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund, Greylock Federal Credit Union, 150 West St. Pittsfield, MA 01201, Attn: Rosalie Lampro, or Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, 1000 North St. Pittsfield, MA 01201. This will benefit nursing students in our area.
