Jack Ray Smith

STEPHENTOWN, NY Jack Ray Smith, 44, died December 30, 2015.Born in Long Branch, NJ, the son of Catherine Heitzenroeder and the late Jack Ray Smith, he attended schools in New Jersey and Jupiter High School in Jupiter, Fl. Jack was employed in the restaurant business as a cook and most recently had worked at Jae's Asian Bistro. Prior to that he worked as a greens maintenance person on Fishers Island country club NY, and as a carpenter who specialized in home improvements. He loved his animals, family and friends, and will always be warmly remembered and greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He loved skiing and fishing with friends, and surfing, having spent his teen and young adult years in Jupiter, FL. Jack is survived by his mother and step-father, Jim Vornholt of Palm Bay, FL; his companion of 25 years and love of his life, Sonja Hurley of Stephentown, NY; his sister, Cathy Burns, niece, Ashley Burns of TN; his companions family, Dennis & Louise Hurley; Valerie and Michael White and Pamela Hurley; and aunt's and uncle's, cousin's. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Jack Ray Smith of Stephentown and formerly of Pittsfield, Lee , Jupiter and Hobe Sound, FL, who died December 30, 2015, will be Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Roche Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in Jack's memory may be made to Sonja Hurley to help offset funeral expenses in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
