James A. Kilmartin Jr.

1931 - 2014 PITTSFIELD James A. Kilmartin Jr., 83, of 127 Benedict Road died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on September 7, 1931 in Torrington, Conn., he was the son of the late James A. Kilmartin Sr. and the late Elvira Perry Kilmartin. A longtime Pittsfield resident, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Service Star. Jim worked for many years at Carr Hardware on North Street and also worked as a maintenance man at Berkshire Farm for many years. He was a communicant of the former St. Mary the Morning Star Church and Holy Family Church. He was also a past member of the Pittsfield VFW. He enjoyed horse racing and traveling. He also enjoyed following Celtic's basketball. He leaves his wife, the former Patricia Dellea of Pittsfield whom he married in July of 1965. He also leaves his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for James A. Kilmartin Jr. who died September 18, 2014 will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield conducted by the Reverand David E. Aufiero, parochial vicar at St. Mark Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Hinsdale Lion's Club "Journey for Sight" in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201
