James Mattia 1957 2012 CHESHIRE James Gerald Mattia, 54, died surrounded by his loving family on Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield to the late William and Kathleen (Burns) Mattia on October 10, 1957. He attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1976. James was employed by Crane and Company in Dalton and later with Covanta Energy Corporation. He served his country in the United State Air Force for 4 years during peacetime. James was an avid fisherman and Golfer and loved all Sports; and was the coach of the Pittsfield Boys Club Travel Team for 3 years. James leaves his loving wife of sixteen years, Shari (Liebenow) of Cheshire, his sons; Christain Liebenow and his girlfriend Sarah of Great Barrington; Vito Mattia of Cheshire. He is also survived by his brothers; William Mattia and Robert Mattia of Pittsfield; his sister Coralie Dewey of East Nassau, N.Y. And three cherished grandchildren Camerin, Jayson and Aranna. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for James will be private with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in New Lebanon, New York.
