James R. Passier

1943 - 2016 James "Jim" Robert Passier, 72, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 47 years of Nora (Ouellette) Passier, passed away peacefully on Thursday (August 18, 2016) surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 5, 1943 in Pittsfield, MA, he was son of the late Leon and Lauria (Decelles) Passier. Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Jim graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in Printing. He furthered his education by earning a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Hartford. Jim was a respected and highly regarded employee of Travelers for 28 years. He also worked for the State of CT for 10 years prior to his retirement. Jim was an avid runner and history buff. He cherished his adventures hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail with his brother, Jack. Faith was a significant part of Jim's life and he was actively involved with St. James Church ministries. He was an example of integrity, kindness and gentle wisdom. Everyone enjoyed his witty and dry sense of humor. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville, CT for their loving care and support. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Jim will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Nora; two daughters, Kim Reale and husband Jim of Hoschton, Georgia and Kristina Passier of Cromwell, CT and his adored granddaughter, Sophie Reale. He is also survived by his brother, John Passier and wife Vicki of Pittsfield, MA. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Lawrence and Leon Passier. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (August 25) at 10a.m. St. James Church, Rocky Hill. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W. Lilburn, GA 30047.
