James D. Powers

1936 - 2013 PITTSFIELD James D. Powers, 76, of 169 Valentine Road, died Tuesday March 26, 2013, at Hillcrest Commons Health Care Facility where he resided for the past eight months.

Born in Pittsfield on July 12, 1936, he was the son of Edward and Mae Carey Powers. James attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield.

He was employed in the shipping and transferring department at the former Eaton Paper Company, retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed Western and Irish music, the Boston Red Sox, playing pitch and, in his earlier years, was an avid bowler.

He was a communicant of St. Marks Church.

He leaves his sister, Mary Lou Decker (Ralph) of Pittsfield, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and one great- great- nephew.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Powers and Ned Powers; by a sister, Jane Huber, and by two nephews, Mark and Steve Huber

FUNERAL NOTICE: James D. Powers died March 26, 2013. Funeral services will be Monday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Mark Church, celebrated by the Rev. Tomasz Parzynski. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 1, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
