James E. Smith 1941-2012 PITTSFIELD James E. Smith, 70, of Noank, Conn. went home with the Lord on the morning of March 20, 2012 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn. James was born on December 5, 1941 to his parents, James E Smith Sr. and Rita Roy. He attended Pittsfield schools and joined the Navy where he served for six years. Jim was a machinist for many years at Lenox Machine and Electric Boat in Groton, Conn. where he retired after 30 years of faithful service. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies building model planes and boats. He also loved spending time playing with his grand children. He loved spending time with family members and looking at old photos. He particularly liked being by the water enjoying the peaceful, calm ambience. James was a member of the New Life Church in Ledyard, Conn. for many years and enjoyed studying the bible. He was predeceased by his parents, James E. Smith Sr. and Rita Roy, and his three brothers, Bruce, Craig and David Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 22 years, Charlene R. Smith; son, James E Smith III of Pennsylvania; daughter, Angela Ciccone of Groton, Conn.; son, David and daughter, Nicole Smith of Pittsfield; three brothers, Brian Smith of Pittsfield , Kevin Smith of Texas, and Charlie Smith of Florida. He also leaves a nunber of stepchildren and grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
