Jane Brown Obituary
Jane Benjamin Brown

1921-2012 Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Jane Benjamin Brown, left this earth on November 3, 2012. She had ninety-one wonderful years and a purposeful life. She is missed by all but has left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Jane was born on March 9th 1921 in Lee, Massachusetts to Rutherford C. Benjamin and Florence Cobb Benjamin.

Early years in Jane's life were filled with wonderful times with her Grandfather who was a veterinarian. She was always was inquisitive, curious about life and had a very bright mind.

Jane graduated from Lee High School in 1938 and worked as a waitress and chef assistant before moving to Virginia Beach to work as a PBX operator.

Jane and Henry Francis Brown, of LenoxDale, were sweethearts. Jane called Henry her "Handsome Irishman". Henry (they called him Brownie) left for duty in WW2 in 1942.

Jane moved with her mother to California. Brownie followed her to California when he returned from service. They were married inLos Angeles in 1946.

Jane and Brownie had three children Janie, Dana and Patricia Ann.

Janie lives in Peoria, Ariz., with her husband Phil. Janie has a son Sean. Sean is married to Heather and they have two children Grant and Christopher.

Dana lives in Thousand Oaks, Calif., with his wife Christine. They have two children Devin and Seth. Devin is married to Samantha and has two children Chloe and Sadie. Seth is married to Michelle.

Patricia Ann was taken away from us in 1955 after a short illness.

Jane enjoyed cooking, gardening and entertaining while raising her family. When the children were older Jane went to work as a switchboard operator at TRW where she developed lifelong friendships.

Upon Brownie's retirement they moved to Thousand Oaks, California to enjoy playing golf, swimming and taking trips to Arizona to visit their daughter and grandson.

When Brownie passed away in 1991 Jane moved to Prescott, Arizona. Jane made many friends in Prescott and liked to drive her Cadillac around town visiting friends, shopping and, at times, playing slots at the Indian Casino.

Jane returned to California in 2004 to be near her son and his family. She lived in a senior development and enjoyed all of the social activities.

The last year of her life Jane lived with her son Dana and daughter-in-law, Christine. Christine became her caregiver and devoted herself to providing a loving environment for Jane.

Jane passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side. Jane will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life, the unconditional love she gave to family and friends and her inquisitive intellect.

Besides her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren Jane leaves her brother, Col (Ret) George C. Benjamin and his wife Ruth of Auburn Maine, her sister Arlene B. Duquette of Lee, and her sister-in-law Mary Corcoran who lives in LenoxDale. Her other sister, Dorothy Brunell, passed away in 1998.

Funeral services were held at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, Calif., on November 7.
