Jane Marie Salvatore
1927 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Jane Marie Salvatore, 86, of Pittsfield, passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 13, 2013, surrounded by family at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 1, 1927, the daughter of Irvin Williams and Agnes McDonough Williams, she was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Jane was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Peter A. Salvatore, Sr. (52), on Jan. 16, 1976.
In the early years while her children were school-age, she worked at home as a drapery maker for clients and also for Stevens House of Carpets and Drapery World. Following the death of her husband, she worked at Berkshire Bank for two years and then found the career she loved working at the Norman Rockwell Museum as a docent and manager of Visitor Services. Jane so enjoyed people, enough so that she retired after 30 years of service at the age of 83.
Jane loved to travel. Prior to her husband's passing, they visited Hawaii and later traveled with her sisters to Spain, Ireland, England, and Scotland, and yearly trips to Florida, as well as different parts of the United States. The last few years, Jane enjoyed reading and knitting for her grandchildren and going to breakfast, lunch, or dinner with family and friends. "Always on the go."
Jane will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her daughter, Susan Seely, and husband, William, of Dalton; sons, Peter and wife, Susan, of Dalton, and James and longtime girlfriend, Karen Keen; four granddaughters, Wendy Salvatore of Stoneham, Heather Seely McDermott and husband, Vince, Dina Salvatore LaBeau and husband, Jeremy, Beth Salvatore LeBeau and husband, "RJ" Robert, and two beautiful great grandchildren she adored, Kenna and Salvatore LaBeau; her sisters, Patricia Tooley of West Springfield, Carol Dickhout, Nancy Williams, and brother, Joseph Williams, all of Pittsfield, and many nieces and nephews.
