Jared M. Burnell

1990 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Jared Martin Burnell, 22, of 145 Francis Ave., passed away suddenly in a motor vehicle accident on Feb. 28, in Mower County, Minnesota.

Born Dec. 24, 1990, in Pittsfield, son of Gary P. Burnell and Robin M. Nicholas Burnell, he attended Williams, Crosby and Reid Schools in Pittsfield. He graduated from the Milton Hershey School in 2009 and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, studying political science and economics.

He was recently discharged from the Army where he had been an intelligence analyst.

Jared enjoyed reading, snowboarding, shooting compound bows, working with computers, playing and listening to classical piano. In the 7th grade he was a member of the ambassador program and traveled to France, Italy, and Malta. He played Pop Warner football for the Lions and participated in the Pittsfield Middle School spelling bee.

Jared enjoyed playing chess, monopoly and listening to Frank Sinatra. He enjoyed Japanese Anime and his dream vacation was to visit Japan.

Jared was an organ donor and after his accident, he was able to donate and helped 60 people through his generous gift.

He leaves his mother, Robin M. Burnell, and significant other, David Valentine of Pittsfield; father, Gary P. Burnell, and his wife Nube of Pittsfield; siblings, Heather Burnell Forrest and her husband, Justyn, Dylan Burnell and Natasha Burnell, all of Pittsfield; half-sister, Tannya Romero and half-brother, Alex Romero both of Pittsfield; nephews, Kanaan Harrington and Justyn Forrest Jr.; grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Nicholas of Lee, and grandmother, Betsy Burnell of Pittsfield; 11 aunts and uncles, as well as numerous cousins. Jared also leaves an abundance of friends that he had made over the years.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Arthur R. Burnell.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Jared M. Burnell will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Lenox, 6 Holmes Road, Lenox, with the Rev. Janet Deranian, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Wednesday, March 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME.
